Studio A: Identity in Art

Half year (1 Semester)

Students will engage in a variety of art-making experiences with a conceptual focus on personal identity and expression. They will make authentic connections with historical and contemporary artists. This studio-based course allows students to explore and incorporate a range of two and three-dimensional media. Students will reflect upon their own experiences.

Students will:

  • Explore a variety of concepts relating to personal identity and expression 
  • Create a variety of 2D and 3D art while developing technical skills and confidence in using a range of materials
  • Engage with the creative process and a research-based approach to making art
  • Connect with historical and contemporary references to frame their learning journey

Sample questions that students will explore:

  • How can I share my personal story through art?
  • What makes an artwork expressive?
  • What methods and processes do artists use to develop their work?
  • How can I expand my creativity in a personal and meaningful way?
