Middle School Health & Wellbeing at HKIS focuses on balance, as students learn the different domains of wellness - physical, mental, emotional, social, environmental and spiritual - that help us stay happy, healthy and well. The foundation of the program is centered on skills-based instruction, with the development of lifelong health literacy skills.
Students will learn about:
- Self management skills and health enhancing behaviors. Content includes: supports and barriers for good sleep and nutrition.
- Accessing valid and reliable resources. Content includes: the importance of talking about mental health, and where to access resources to support someone experiencing mental health challenges.
- Decision making skills. Content includes: Knowing when a thoughtful decision making process is needed to improve health and wellbeing, and understanding how our values influence the decisions that we make.
