Mathematics

In Grade 8, there will be an option for students to take Integrated Mathematics 1 or a grade-level appropriate course, Math 8.   

Integrated Mathematics 1 uses high school level Common Core State Standards for teaching and learning. The Compacted Math 6 and Math 7 Curriculum is designed to prepare students for this pathway.  

Math 8 uses a combination of Middle School and High School level Common Core State Standards building on the foundational knowledge students have acquired in the Compacted Grades 6 and 7 courses.  It is designed to solidify and consolidate key math concepts and topics, preparing students for Integrated Mathematics 1 in Grade 9.

No matter which option a student chooses, Mathematics at HKIS provides a trajectory that ensures students are suitably challenged at the appropriate level and able to access advanced math course offerings in High School.
